Description

With parabolic arch hinged at the abutments. Arch span of 1m and rise of 0,2m. The arch can be loaded at seven equi-spaced points. In addition a clockwise or anti-clockwise moment can be added to the right-hand abutment. The horizontal thrust and vertical reaction are measured by spring balances. A dial indicator is used to measure the horizontal and vertical deflections. The equi-spaced loading points may be substituted for a single loading device. This applies a non eccentric vertical load and a known horizontal load at any point on the arch. Displacement measurement by dial indicator reading to 0,01mm.
