For experiments on square, rectangular and unsymmetric portals. Hinged or built-in left-hand end. Horizontal & vertical reactions measured by spring balance at the right-hamd end. Displacement by dial indicator reading to 0,01mm. Bending moment system. A wide variety of loads may be applied to the apparatus. The short arms can be loaded to study the effects of an eccentric load, such as an overhead crane. The portal can be loaded directly as well as by a side load using the pillar bracket with cord and load hanger. The apparatus can be supplied with a gantry fitted to the frame and a set of 3 dial indicators and adjustable mounting bases. Thus frame deflections can be measured simultaneously at several points.
